Sunday Expectations

Today is going to be a great day.  Although my Sunday afternoon nap may suffer, I still believe it will be a great day.  It is gonna be a very full day.  I’m excited about all my expectations for the day too!

  • We are singing With Everything by Hillsong today in church.  The key line is “with everything we will shout for Your glory”.  I love it.  That is the whole point!  I can’t wait to watch people sing out to Him!
  • Today we are having a Kingsfield Church park day.  Nothing planned.  Just gonna stay late today after church and hangout with everyone in the park at the Town Center.  I love times when we just get to hang out and not schedule speakers and announcements and songs and such.  Those times are needed too!
  • My fantasy football teams are going to need to step it up this week.  One did last week (sorry KK) and the other did not.  I am expecting some awesome stats from my boys.
  • Peyton vs. Brady.  This should be a great game!  The Sunday night football game is the Colts vs. the Patriots.  Only bad weather or major injuries could make this game not awesome!  (I’ll have to keep the wife away from the tv since Peyton is on her list of 5…if you know what I mean.)

Hope your Sunday is great, but don’t wait for the weekend to expect big things from our HUGE God!

Sunday Expectations

Another week has gone by and it is time to check in for my Sunday expectations.  We have kicked off a new series at Kingsfield Church and we are working our way through our second month in Aliso Viejo and have some new band guys.  It is a new week for Fantasy Football and I could use some wins.  I am expecting a great day.  Here are some of the things that I expect from today.

  • We are in the second week of Jesus Uncensored and hearing about Jesus the King.  I am expecting God to really move in some awesome ways throughout this series focusing on Jesus!
  • After doing setup and teardown for five weeks now, our team is really getting it down.  They continue to rock every week and we are getting quicker and quicker!
  • I have some new equipment to play with at church.  I expect to have fun with that!
  • I am matched up against my wife in Fantasy Football this week.  I expect a great day from all my players and a big win over the wife!
  • It is Sunday and our baby girl has not arrived yet.  I expect a great Sunday afternoon nap!

The Madden Curse

So we have all heard of the John Madden curse, right?  You know, whoever makes it on the cover of the Madden football game will get injured or quit or lose bad or something that year.  It just happens.  Like clockwork.  I could list it all out for you, but that would take quite a while.  So if you don’t believe me, go look it up!

But here’s the point.  Every year for the last 5 – 10 years I have played fantasy football (if you don’t know what that means, you should find out… it’s good times!).  There is something about me that is like Madden… and trust me, I don’t wanna compare myself to him because he drives me insane!  I apparently have a similar curse but it works with my fantasy football teams.  Almost every year in the league that I play in with my college buddies (and a grandparent or two… no really… and she has kicked our butts too) I always end up drafting an awesome QB and then almost always they get hurt.  I have had Michael Vick.  He broke his leg that year… oh and he is in jail.  I have had Donovan McNabb.  I think he broke everything that year.  I have had Chad Pennington (although he may not fall under the awesome QB category) and he got hurt that year.  The list goes on and on.

Point is, last year Tom Brady had the best year ever.  So of course I should want him as my QB this year.  Well, if you actually made it this far through this post you already know that he made it 15 minutes into this season and torn his ACL and MCL.  He got me 3 points.  Good times.  I mean seriously?  How does that continue to happen?  I don’t get it.  I think I am just destined to always lose in that league.  Maybe for the players sakes I should stop playing fantasy football with the college boys.  My bad Brady.  I guess next year I’m just gonna have to draft like 5 QBs.

Wish me luck salvaging my fantasy season now.
